Historic Gruene Mansion, New Braunfels, Texas

New Braunfels is a popular Texas tourist town that was founded in 1845 by Prince Carl of Solms-Braunfels region of Germany and a group of German farmers and craftsmen. German names can be seen on the billboards and street names throughout the city. This quaint German heritage city is home to a population of over 36,000.

With the Comal and Guadulupe Rivers running through the city, and a number of natural spring-fed pools as well as a waterpark, visitors and the local folk enjoy a variety of water recreational activities.

And of course, there is the golf course! Landa Park's 18 hole golf course is a destination for golfers of all ages.

New Braunfels is not only a historically significant city in Texas, it also is a regional center for antiquing. Some of the best antique shopping in the area can be found in New Braunfels.

New Braunfels is an easy drive from major Texas cities. Austin is 40 miles to the north, San Antonio is 25 miles to the south, and Houston is 160 miles to the east. The largest caverns in the state of Texas, Natural Bridge Caverns, are just west of New Braunfels. And the historic town of Gruene, Texas and Canyon Lake are only minutes away.
